After Jim and the team at Tunehouse tuned the car, it was making a 40% gain which is impressive. So take it from me – an ecstatic customer, these guys know what they are doing and I won’t go anywhere else from now on.

The Tunehouse staff are also really well mannered and extremely helpful. I’d like to thank Jim and all the staff at Tunehouse for their incredible effort. I’m very grateful.

Jay

After having my car road tuned by "the home of the worlds fastest turbo
cars" I starting speaking with Tony from Tunehouse and we soon worked out a
direction and some parts for my car.

It started by me and my girlfriend making the trip down to Marrickville to
meet the people I'd spoken too and also heard so much about, as soon as we
pulled up at Tunehouse we were greeted with a warm welcome from Tony and
Jim, after having a little chinwag Jim simply had to show off his dyno room
too me where all the magic would be worked much like a giant acoustic
couldron lol.

So that day leaving Tunehouse with a great coffee, a smile ear to ear from
the friendly staff and not to mention a boot full of parts the next stage of
my cars life had begun! I fitted all the components listed below myself to save costs on labour
(yes im a tightass lol) but of course being a mechanic myself helped.

- Rapids 4.5 kit custom painted by myself
- Tunehouse exhaust
- ported wastegate
- 12lb actuator
- Tunehouse injectors
- Atomic valve springs
- Process West surge tank
- Process West rocker cover garnish
- Auto Cooler
- Alloy coolant reservoir

After a long wait on some of the parts I finally got it all together, so
next was to trailer the big purple beast down to Tunehouse where it would
finally get the tuning it deserved. It was a very testing week for me not having a car and not knowing what to
expect (the best I hoped), finally after numerous phone calls (sorry Jess
and Tony) I was anxious when the phone rang at 9o'clock friday night. Jim
had just finished the tuning my car and the results below speak for
themselves.

I cannot commend Jim, the guys from Tunehouse and of course Jess enough for the great tune that they have achieved for my car.!

Cheers Blake

My car has been tuned by tune house after my recent experience with a different place. I couldn't be happier with the service and result of my car and their attention to detail and pride of workmanship is second to none. This place is spotless, the guys are very well presented and greet you with a smile every time. Tune house is a place to be experienced by all who want the best!

Thanks Jim, Tony and all the boys at Tune house,

Well in a rare feat of me getting time to do anything, I took my car down to Jim and the boys at Tunehouse yesterday for the 'treatment'. I've gotta say, even though their reputation precedes them, that all the stories, legends and fables are true. They are a top bunch of blokes, the workshop is hospital clean and their work is spot on. You know your car is good hands when you covertly notice the guy who is going to have the life of your pride and and joy in his hands pause during his exit from the front office to straighten two chairs that would have been out of alignment by about a degree each! This attention to detail obviously transfers directly to Jim's work, but you can also see how it has become the priority of his other staff as well. Mainly I dealt with Tony and George who are great their jobs and top blokes too. Tony went over my car for me and found the diff oil level from the factory to be low, and rectified it like a true gentleman. What's more, there was no shortage of kick ass grade coffee from Jim and Tony through out the day! They make sure they look after you and would have no hesitation in recommending a trip to Tunehouse to anyone.

So how did we go? Best figures were 350 something maybe 357 and 910nm but there was valve float occurring and Jim reeled her in until I invest in a set of springs. We ended up with 341.9 rwkw and 881nm of torque. It's like I just went and bought a new car, nothing like the old.

The mods are-
PW race air box
PW stage 2 intercooler kit
FGF6 injectors
100 cell cat on standard exhaust

Thanks again Tunehouse!

I picked up my car this evening after having it tuned by Jim.

I was extremely happy to see that the car had made 508rwkws on BP Ultimate. Considering the dismal weather in Sydney, I didn't get an opportunity to try its new found power. However getting closer to home it dried up and I got to experience it!

Friggin' hell. Its actually getting a bit scary now! Overall, very impressed with the tune!

Thanks to Jim, Tony and whoever else worked on my car........Great Job.

Hi guys just want to say thanks for installing my gauges today! Looks fantastic! Special thanks to Tony for installing them and Tim for running through a few things for me. Its true the workshop is immaculate!

Thanks again will come back for my service and few mods down the track!

Cheers,
Andy.

I would like to give Tune house my highest recommendation. Recently I cracked my sump of my Bf Typhoons ZF 6spd auto. I hunted around sydney for someone to help most people did not even know what the gearbox was others wanted me to take out a second mortgage.

However Jim & the boys down at Tune house gave me a new pan and filter and did a complete flush of the box for less than half of what most guys quoted. the car has never driven better gear changes are smother and all those worrying noises have gone. I very rarely rave about mechanical work on my car but these guys are something else.

On top of doing my gearbox they provided me with a complementary vehicle inspection which even included a brake fluid boiling point test.

There workshop is Hospital grade and there dyno room is something out of star wars. I give my highest recommendation to these guys, anyone in sydney who loves there car go see the guys done at Tune House.

"Fg Xr6T Re-Tune"

"Hey All,

Just thought I'd post a quick update on my recent tune. I spoke with Jim a few weeks ago about possibly getting my car back on the dyno to do a quick check and tidy up. Jim said he'd learnt lots since my last tune and had a few ideas about getting a little more out of it and reducing fuel consumption.

So down I went and Jim chucked my car on and started weaving his magic tuning and flashing, tuning and flashing. Anyway car was on the dyno from about 10am till 3pm and came off with 340rwkw and 884nm. Not too much more power but the mid range is such an improvement. Now time for it's usual test drive around the dodgy streets of Marrickville. What can I say, geez it's hold on tight stuff now. Quite amazing how much better the car is and how much harder it goes. Loads more mid range and you can really feel the extra torque. We even flashed the old tune back in and took it for a squirt to see the difference, it was like night and day.

Now I've had the car for about 2 weeks and the fuel economy figures are really impressing me. On my last tune I was struggling to keep my economy below 14L/100 with the short trips I do to and from work. Now I'm easily managing 13L/100 with short trips and a number of squirts to stretch the legs. Could easily baby it along and keep it in the mid 12's

Anyway all in all a great result which has impressed me quite a bit. Well done to Jim, Tony and George for all their efforts. This will keep me coming back time and time again."

"Well guys, I had this amazing piece of literature typed up about my journey up and down the east coast which led to my turbo shatting itself. Unfortunately the photo uploader didn't, and when I went to the basic uploader I lost all the amazing text, so now you'll get the abridged version.

The turbo shat itself, but still ran for around 1000km in it's death roll. It seems the culprit was again the pissant oil filter supplied by Fraud instead of something decent.
I made it as far as Tunehouse on the way back from Coolangatta, as the noises were becoming very nasty. Jim helped me decide on a combination that would meet my needs. As I didn't want to mix good parts with bad / tired ones we decided to start at the front and finish at the back. Jim also said he would check the car out thoroughly and he wasn't kidding. He found a number of issues that needed attention including:

1. Broken engine mount
2. Broken rubber bushes supporting diff and centre bush
3. Crimped wiring and hoses from original Nizpro II installation (no names no pack drill)
4. Unsecured ABS wiring at rear near diff
5. Missing heat shielding around exhaust at rear

I ended up going with:

1. Atomic 698 built to Tunehouse specs
2. Billlet flexplate and crank girdle
3. Hybrid turbo of which I don't know the specs (IP?)
3. Process West race cooler, plenum and cold air kit
4. Process West surge tank
5. Tunehouse 4" exhaust
6. Nolathane centre and side diff bushes, new heat shielding etc

The service experience from Jim and the team at Tunehouse was excellent. They have certainly raised the bar and are setting a new standard in customer support. Not only did I get and comprehensive photo porfolio on CD of the buildup, but I also recieved a folder with an abundance of technical information, specifications and run-in procedures, and a certificate of authenticity for the engine build. The boys took the time to explain everything that went on, using the photos to highlight key aspects of the build, and show some of the issues that needed to be dealt with. This gave me alot of confidence that they were doing the job right, and took pride in what was being created. Jim then took me out for a coffee, as the Sydney traffic was a bit too feral for me to head south yet, and explained his phylosophy of providing the best possible service experience and workmanship......do it once.....do it right. This is what I tell my kids, so it really struck a chord with me.

The drive home from Sydney was both amazing and frustrating. The car felt so different, so tightly connected and smooth. It never ran this well even when it was new!! The frustration came from having to keep the right foot under control, to load it up but not let the revs get above 4500rpm. Even so, she is a frisky one. Boost has been contained significantly, ranging from a baby 4lb at 2000rpm increasing linearly to around 11lb at 5000rpm. This provides around 337rwkw in what is still a very tight motor, so I think there are bigger and better things coming for this girl when she is run in.

In the mean time, I'll say many thanks to Jim, Tony, Tim and the team at Tunehouse. Now I know why they get so many props from other forum members. "

I did have intention of making a build thread to follow the progress of my build but have not had much time of late. Instead I will give some progress reports on the car and how it performs on and off the track.

The build.

This is something that I trusted Jim with 100%, I have taken and continue to take his advice on what to do. I did however list what I wanted the car to perform like and how I wanted to use it. I made it clear that I wanted to drive the car every day, run some good numbers over the ¼ and be fast and drivable around the track, I basically wanted my ultimate tough street car.

Mods.

Nizpro Stage 3 motor and injectors
Tunehouse exhaust
Processwest race plenum kit and surge tank

Turbo has been set up to spec's chosen by Jim, it is a modified Factory turbo with a .7 comp cover but that's about all I can tell you. Not because it's a 'secret' combo but I just never asked and I am sure if I did I would forget soon after I was told.

Rebuilt gearbox

Tein Coilovers with edfc, this is not yet fitted to the car but should be in the next month or so.

Wolf wheels with Toyo R1R rubber, not sure yet if these are going to be a permanent fixture or just for track work. front 18 x 8.5 245/40/18 Rear 18 x 9.5 265/35/18

The verdict so far.

I only had the car for some running km's before it went back for a tune with a bit more punch so I could really test the new set up at eastern creek. During the 330rwkw run-in tune all seemed fine, there was a small oil leak from the sump but nothing serious and Jim has promised he will sort it out as soon as I give him the car, even though Tunehouse has ceased their dealings with Nizpro Jim has assured me if there are any issues with the motor he will make sure they are sorted. Anyway the run-in tune. All was nice fuel economy was good but I was getting edgy for some fun in the car.

So last week the car went back to Tunehouse for a oil change, check and re-tune. I dropped the off to Jim late last week and without any notice, wanting it back ready for a track day at Eastern creek on Wednesday. I am not sure if I thought I was Tunehouse's only customer or I just forgot about the 4 day weekend but Jim and the boys said it would be ready. On Tuesday I decided that I needed some new front pads for the track so I went to Race brakes and picked them up, then at about 8pm I made my way down to Tunehouse to pick up the car and see if anyone was in the mood to change my front pads. The car came off the dyno at around 8.30 pm at which time George was nice enough to stay and change my front pads.

The car made a healthy 420rwkw and 900nm, this is only 5kw more than my pre build figure but it is 100nm more and a totally different power delivery. I would bet my life that this 420rwkw would walk all over my previous 415rwkw. This tune is not the final tune but it is about where I want the car for every day and the track, we will in the future give the car a tune with some race fuel for when I get serious about some ¼ times.

So it was off to the creek for some laps and testing to see where the car was at and what problems were ahead. Fytos also came along in his Tunehouse WRX and I talked my sister into coming along in her Lexus is250, its far from suited to the track but was surprisingly fun to drive.

What can I say but wow the F6 was a beast on the track and only let down by the driver, it did have some serious pace down the straight getting around 230kph and yes I was scared at that speed knowing I had to turn a corner soon. There were no issues with lag or excessive wheel spin, although the car wanted to turn the tyre's it was very controllable even in the raining morning session the car was very drivable. The only issue the car had was blowing off an intercooler hose, but with Jim coming out on the day to see how the car ran he soon had the problem fixed.

To top things off I even let my sister do a few laps in the car.

I would like to thank the boys at Tunehouse for the great work they have done in getting the car where it is and especially Jim who listen to what I wanted to achieve with the car and got it right first time.

"Team Tunehouse,

Thanks for replacing my destroyed clutch in such short notice, great service as always.

The car drove home like a dream, but that was one expensive burnout, haha.

Always a pleasure dealing with you all.

"Hi Jim,

I just wanted to thank you again for all the work that you have done. When i first brought the car in on the xr5 dyno day, i was coming with nothing other than blind hope that the car would be fine after Ford's rebuild, and that a DS tune would run fine on this engine after it fried the previous engine. The run showed that power wasn't quite right, but more importantly, that the engine wasn't right, and that i shouldn't be running a tune like that. The graph showed drops in power and torque which were noticeable in driving. After a bit of soul searching, and an offer from Ben that you were looking for a car with a DS SCT tuner to see if you could program, i brought it in. What you found was shocking to say the least. Different spark plugs, finger tightened bolts, hoses not connected, or connected to the wrong spots. But you fixed the car and tuned it. Then when i picked it up, i could hardly contain myself. The car was running as good as new, if not better, even when returned to the stock tune.

After having confidence that the car was right, i then went on in search of more power... An intercooler and exhaust later, and then this last custom tune, i am extremely happy with the results. After a lot of "testing" on the weekend, i can say that i am extremely happy. The car feels smooth and has more go the whole way through the rev range. Aside from that, normal sedate driving, like my trip in to the city and back every day, feels much better and smoother than before. There's no knock back feeling when off the throttle at low revs, it just smoothly rolls.

Thank you very much Jim, Tony, Tim and the rest of the crew. You guys are great and the work you have done for my car is amazing. It makes me feel the same as when i first got it, i still look forward to driving it everyday :)"

"Hey Guys,

I had a minor issue with my engine yesterday afternoon. I had just left for Canberra and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp came on after about 2 minutes. I basically called Tim and took the car in... Jim again worked his magic, played with the settings having a look at the error code in the SCT Flash Tuner and the car was fixed, no more issues.

Yet again the care these guys show when looking after their customers. I can't thank them enough for their work and for the on-going support.

Thanks again Jim, Tony, Tim and the rest of the guys."

"I noticed that on start ups in the mornings the car would seem like it would misfire and drop a cylinder for about 30 seconds and then it would settle down. (This problem first appeared after my first tune and was so bad that I was unable to reverse out of the garage for at least 1 minute untill the car warmed up a little but was resolved somewhat a couple of days later when I took the car back) I let this go for a couple of days but soon was on the phone to Jim at Tunehouse and told him what was happening, Jim sounded like he was a bit disappointed with what I told him and he asked if I could live with the problem for a couple of extra days to see if the problem would subside and if not to bring the car in the following day so he could look at it. I decided to live with it for a couple of days but unfortunately because of work commitments those couple of days turned into a couple of weeks before I rang Tunehouse again only to be told by Tony that Jim had taken a few days off. Tony told me that if I was really concerned by the problem then to bring it in and he would look at it or if not Jim would call me as soon as he got back from his holiday. Well sure enough the call came through and Jim booked me in and made sure that I had a courtesy car to take home that afternoon.

Got a call from Tim at 4.30 the following arvo and was told that Jim had the car on the dyno and would be finished in 15 minutes so to start making my way down. Jim explained to me that the problem stemmed from previous unnecessary adjustments to the cars factory computer program but it was all fixed now and that he put the car back on the dyno to make sure there was no power loss from his last tune. Car purred like a kitten all day today right from start up, well most of the day except for the incident this arvo when a little lion taming of the new GTS breed was required:

What more can I say than what a "true professional workshop" you are a credit to your industry Tunehouse. "

Last week I booked my car in for a service with the guys at Tunehouse at Marrickville, I must admit there was a slight degree of uncertainty before going there, having worked in the immediate area for sometime, I had been on the receiving end of some pretty savage rumors about there business practices.

I am going to say that anything bad that I have heard about Tunehouse is a load of SH!T, they are some of the most polite and professional mechanics I have dealt with in a long time and their workshop is kept meticulously clean, you could quite literally eat off the floor.

The service started with dropping the car off for the recommended option, this was referred to as the Tunehouse Plus service, everything is given a good once over, oil changed, other fluids topped up, battery checked, brakes examined etc.

A few times during the course of the day I received calls advising me of procedures that were recommended to be carried out over and above the Plus service, the recommendations for this particular service were to re-torque all the suspension components (with a real torque wrench, not just some idiot going crazy with a rattle gun) and to perform a decarb service on the intake, I was immediately advised of the additional costs involved with these items, and authorised the extra work.
None of these shoddy hidden “extra” charges when you come and collect your car with these guys, everything is above board and the work will not proceed without customer authority.

At the time of collecting my car I received a full 3 page report explaining the procedures carried out as part of the Plus service, the additional service items were also clearly detailed, and there were a few items listed for me to keep an eye on between services, i.e brakes will need replacing soon.

I even got a nice, cut vinyl Tunehouse decal on the rear windscreen (they even asked my permission before fitting it), now I normally make a habit of removing these crappy decals as I see them as a form of cheap advertising (my car is not a bill board), but I have made an exception to this one, it is discreet, tasteful and I have no reason to remove it and am happy to leave it in place as a testament to the quality of service and workmanship these guys offer.

Oh, one last point, referring back to my earlier statement about the re-torquing of the suspension etc, I have not heard one rattle gun in my visits there, this is a good thing, there is nothing worse than having wheel bolts torqued so heavily that you need to jump on the wheel brace to unbolt a wheel in the event of a flat tyre, not to mention the additional stresses on parts that incorrectly torqued bolts can cause.

I recommend that anyone in the Sydney area give these guys a go for your next service, even with my work relocating to the western Sydney area in the near future I will be making the effort to keep using Tunehouse for my future servicing.

"Just wanted to say thank you to the guys at Tunehouse for there excellent customer service and a great service on my FG XR6T.... From the moment I got there I could tell my car was in safe hands, WORKSHOP IS IMMACULATE, they were always keeping me updated on the progress through out the day...

They went over my car with a fine toothed comb and found some things others wouldn't have....

Very helpful bunch with great advice, ill defiantly be making myself a regular there, and ill be back for some extra goodies in a couple of weeks."

"I too initially found it hard to decide where to take my car. I'm a big believer in credit where credit is due so I wanted to share my experience with Tunehouse here in Sydney.

First of all I'm in no way affiliated with Tunehouse, I don't get any discounts and when Jim was booked out on the dyno i waited my turn like everyone else.

My car had a turbo rebuild, clutch rebuild and half a dozen or so other bolt on parts fitted recently and I had all the work done at Tunehouse after hearing good things from a friend of mine with a similar car. My first impression was a ridiculously clean workshop (who paints a workshop floor almost white>>!!) with blokes that always say hi and are happy to just have a chat.
For every part I wanted the intended power level and use of the car was taken into account and Tony was happy to explain things to me that I probably should have already known!! I was given 2 or 3 options at differing price levels for each part and Jim, the owner and tuner, recommended the cheaper option to me for a couple of parts as they were more appropriate for my goals; which I really think shows how genuine this guy is.

The tune is beautiful. The car makes the power I wanted with a good strong curve, starts cold every time, idles flat and partial throttle and Sydney traffic driving is all dealt with without a fuss. Me having my car back just how I wanted it makes me so happy and I just wanted to share that with you all.

When you see this workshop and see how these guys look after their own cars, you'll know why I felt happy to leave my pride and joy in their hands. A massive thankyou to Jim, Tony, Tim and the boys at Tunehouse!"

Sean W - R33 GTS-T

"After a series of disasters with various tuning shops around Sydney I finally have a result with my R34 GTR ..

I achieved a result of 390kw, which is nice. But the big difference vs before..

1. It accumulates revs like a motorbike,
2. It boosts in all the gears, even 1st which makes legal street driving fun if you want it to be,
3. It feels very eager below 3000.

At 4000 rpm, it is doing 175kw, and is nearly @ 1 bar, At 5000 rpm, it is doing 330kw and has topped out at 24psi.
From 5000 to 8000 it is ridiculous.

Below 4000 rpm, the car feels much stronger than it did with the N1s @ 270kw (it should feel more laggy).

My Mods are as follows:

A fairly stock bottom end (Racepace stage 2 motor) but with a big sump and pump.
A bone stock head but with basic hks v-cam on the inlet and a fat cam on the exhaust.
Nismo twin plate clutch.
2530kai.
Big injectors.
Direct wired but stock fuel pump.
N1 manifolds.
Nismo weldina exhaust.
Fatter intercooler.
HKS knock monitor.
HKS f-con vpro (MAP) piggy back the nismo ecu.
HKS boost controller with A=19psi (the lower line) and B=24psi.

Tunehouse charged quite reasonably for the tune, they had to obtain Japanese software from a visiting HKS dignitary in order to fully program the v-cam map as the controller alone only allows a low-res map. I think it was the first v-cam they had seen. Considering the mess the tune was in, uncertain state of the mods, etc, Jim @ Tunehouse didn't take advantage of the situation.

His shop at Marrickville is like a forensic lab!"

Justin - R34 GTR

"I would just like to thank Jim, Tony, George and the team at Tunehouse for an amazing job on my F6.

8 months ago I had my F6 tuned by another workshop. She was stock standard at the time. I payed good money to have her tuned and after time she started behaving differently.

The shifts were not smooth. She was running rich and boost was erratic. I searched around for months to find someone who I could trust to tune her and carry out 'Bang for Buck'

modifications. I finally caught onto Tunehouse. The best decision I have ever made for my F6.Jim spent 3 days getting her fixed up and it shows. She is an absolute pleasure to drive now. I will not be taking her anywhere else! From 260kw to 350kw with mild modifications is testament to Jims tuning capabilities and his attention to detail. The service is outstanding, Workshop is world class and you are always greeted with smiles and a cup of coffee! The first time I met Jim and the team at Tunehouse it felt like I had known them for years.

So once again, Thank you Jim and the Team at Tunehouse! You have just gained a loyal customer!"

Peter - FG F6

"Sorry for the delay in me sending this testimonial to you but I thought I would give it a shot now that things have quietend down after the holiday season.

I want to say thanks to yourself and all the guys who work at Tunehouse. The work that was done to my car was nothing short of amazing. I love the way that the car has turned out and I have every faith in the work that was done. You managed to fix a few things that we wrong with the car and extract an awful lot of performance from the engine. When I brought the car in I wasn't expecting the power that you managed to get from the car, and I am more than happy with the result. I was kept well informed of the progress throughout the week and the guys there were extremely accommodating.

The knowledge of your team and your abilities to extract power from the car on the dyno proved to be fantastic and as a result an extremely happy with the car. I want to thank you and the rest of your guys for their work and effort and I will certainly recommend you to anyone else I know who is looking for a reputable place for tuning and for servicing.

Thanks again Jim, looking forward to seeing you again."

"Jim,

Just a note to confirm that the re-revised light throttle / trailing throttle road tune on the old RS is, to coin a phrase, 'Pretty Nice' & fuel consumption appears to be back to normal. Many thanks for your expertise & touring over the festive season will now be that much more enjoyable !

Have a good Christmas & break at Hamilton Is, for interest it is probably worth arranging the short cruise to have a look at nearby Whitehaven beach, very pristine ! "

all the best

So you understand my story. My Ute is a 2006 BF XR8 manual that is not quite standard anymore, V2 Supercharger, cams, full exhaust, heavy duty clutch, Tein suspension, bigger brakes, changed diff gears just to name a few of the mods I have had done.

I had first been pointed in the direction of Tunehouse by Fulcrum suspension as I had an issue with my Tein suspension. Graham at Fulcrum highly recommended Jim and his boys as the right guys to see about my issue as they were close to me. I made a quick call and Jim said "Come down as soon as your able to so we can have a look before we decide what needs to be done" This was just what I wanted to hear.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was how well presented Tunehouse is even down to how all the boys greet you like your a regular with a simple hello. Seeing that I had never been there before this was a good start as to helping me feel comfortable about taking to someone new about my Ute.
Being very fussy about who I leave my Ute with I find if someone takes the time to present there business the way Tunehouse does then they are going to take very good care of your vehicle and pay attention to what you and your vehicle needs/wants.

Then explaining to Jim & Tony why I had been directed towards them they happily got straight onto the problem solving with a test drive with me in the Ute explaining what I was there for once again.
Now mind you up until now I had never even stepped foot into Tunehouse as I had purchased my suspension and other stuff from someone else. This again was excellent service and made me feel more comfortable about what they had to say.

Straight away they explained in full and easy to understand terms that there were a few other issues that would need some attention "if" I want them to do the work.
After fully explain all that was need I made a booking to drop my Ute off.
After dropping my Ute off I was always kept up to date as to what was happening and even got a couple of calls to see if I was able to drop down so they could show me over a few things they had found while the Ute was on the hoist. And before anything was done then left up to me as to what I considered urgent and what "I" wanted to do rather than just spend heaps of my money on stuff I had not asked for. This again made me very comfortable with how professional Tunehouse is and that my Ute was in the best of care.

Jim had all issues resolved including the original suspension issue in which all was done to there high standard of repair. Jim had spent many hours getting my tune just right. Seeing that my Ute is not quite standard I knew that getting the tune just right was always going to be a tough job. And the fact the it is a daily driver it is important that it is very user friendly day to day yet gives me plenty of satisfaction when I get the opportunity to drive it spiritedly.

After getting it back.
As a daily driver it has never been this good, smoother when cold and easier to drive on part throttle in traffic, more torque making it more comfortable at lower rpm for driving in traffic using a higher gear rather than revving it in a lower gear all the time and all the noise issues resolved. I look forward to the drive to and from work thru the week and even just doing the usual have to do run around stuff on the weekends is something I enjoy doing more now.

As my weekend fun/release it is truly amazing to drive. It is now all that I believed it would be with the extras I have put on over time. It has always been a great Ute to drive yet I always thought it could be a little bit nicer all-round as my expectations for the mods I have done and the end result I want was quite high. And for the money outlaid I felt this was more than fair to expect.
After Jim and the boys had spent the time getting it sorted it is now all that I wanted and is such an absolute pleasure to drive. I am a very happy and satisfied man at what Tunehouse has done for me and my Ute.

Thanks to Jim and your guys at Tunehouse.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jim and his Team at Tunehouse (Tony, George, Alex and Tom) for all their effort on my Focus xr5 turbo.. The service I have received is second to none and coming from the motor industry I know good service when i see it! They will treat your car like one of their own with an incredible amount of attention to detail. The cleanliness of their workshop is a testament to this. They are among the friendliest people I have met with an uncanny ability to make sure even the most difficult customers are happy. (me)

Jim's tuning abilities are 2nd to none. He can tune anything!!!!! My car originally had a common generic tune and since he worked his magic with it, it has become an incredible daily driver! It is safer with even better economy and not only is it now the fastest xr5 in Australia the vehicle power delivery is silky smooth and no different from a factory tune in the way it develops power. It just develops a lot of it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would recommend no other for all your motor vehicle needs whether it be servicing, hardware modification or tuning. They do it all and they do it perfectly! I am happy to drive the 60+kms to your shop for servicing for all my vehicles. Thanks for all your help Tunehouse!

Hey guys,

Thought I would just quickly share with you my latest suspension experience...

For some time now I've been putting up with the ROCK HARD drift-spec Tein HRs in my car. The car handled nice and flat and was very responsive to steering inputs but was horribly crashy with some steering rack rattle on uneven bitumen and completely ruined the driving experience apart from when driving on track or on ultra smooth roads.

After getting in touch with TEIN in Japan, who put me onto Fulcrum Suspension (TEIN distributor in Australia), Fulcrum then recommended Tunehouse in south Sydney.

I booked the car in to have some TEIN Super Streets fitted. I dropped the car off Saturday before last, planning to pick up the car last Saturday (5/9). Anyways havoc struck when upon fitting the shock to the front right, the bolt attached to the upper suspension arm sheared off completely.

Apparently this is a common problem as the bolts age and become brittle when disassembled. This would be fine except that the car would have to be used for a wedding on Wednesday (yesterday). With sourcing of a new suspension arm from Nissan before Wednesday impossible, some ringing around was done and Mark at Hills Motorsport was able to source the correct part from his warehouse at 10.00pm the night before the wedding. Tunehouse then worked till the early hours that night to have the part fitted so it would be ready for Wednesday.

Well the new suspension is fantastic; the EDFC is a very handy thing to have, especially combined with the Australian valving that has been done to the shocks. Tony also had the attention to detail to mount the unit in the centre console with all wiring tucked away neatly. The SS on 0,0 setting (hardest front & rear) is still a little softer than the old HRs (mainly due to spring rate I think; the coils on the HRs were much more spaced out), but on 16,16 they are bliss on Parramatta road / Victoria rd / Richmond rd.

Jim Ghelis manages all the boys at Tunehouse, and is a bloke who actually seems genuinely concerned about making a customer happy. Tony is in charge of all the TEIN stuff. They are based in Marrickville in Sydney's inner south-west. If you are thinking about aftermarket suspension they are definitely worth a look and I recommend them.

I don't want this to seem like an 'ad', but instead it's just an expression of gratitude and appreciation for the good service provided and also their willingness to work until so late at night to get the job done before the big day - something that seems rare these days especially reading some of the posts on here. Huge thanks also go to Mark and the boys at Hills for their help.

Cheers, Matt

"So you understand my story.

Thanks to Jim and your guys at Tunehouse."

Just would like to take a minute to thank the Boys at tunehouse for a top job on my xr6 turbo.

After visiting another tuner previously, and seen the car hesitating, pinging, fuel cut out and all the rest, the boys at tunehouse have resurrected the tired XR6 Turbo

Jim and Tony have to be the only mechanics I have dealt with that are honest, know their stuff, and the hours they put it in as incredible.

I went in to fix a bad tune and came out like the car rolled off the production line, bits and pieces that other mechanics neglect that dont make a great deal of difference these boys maintain from the word go so no extra issues occur down the track.

The xr6 started at 250rwkws when I went in but, drove like it had 150 with all the hesitation, On several dyno runs after getting a few mods completed the car is now running a healthy run of 294rwkws, it did see a figure of 306rwkws but after fixing issues it now is running alot smoother and believe it or not it feels much more stronger at 294 after driving it at 306 for a few days.

Once again a big thanx to all the boys at tunehouse and I will be a regular fixture at tunehouse in the future.

After 8 months of upgrades and near engine detonation due to a badly set up car and tunes from various workshops. Jim and boys down @ Tunehouse have RESCUED the XR and created a everyday driver with a bit extra. After many hours of problem solving and tuning ,seeing the car get up to 390rwkw. It was decided to bring the tune down to a healthy 365rwkw considering the engines former setup. The car is now purring even when sideways. Thanks Tunehouse for the professional approach, and the tidy set of the car

Just like to say to any one looking for a tuner in Sydney Jim at Tunehouse is to be highly praised for his almost singled minded determination to get your car perfect. I was pretty happy with my old tune, but had a few minor issues. Decided to pay up for a new tune as I'd heard good reports about Tunehouse. Jim spent about 4 days solid tuning my car the first time he had and literally transformed the car, especially down low; the car felt 100kg lighter and was much crisper and came on boost better. A couple of months later I took it back to fix a few small issues and again he spent about 3 days tuning it with new injectors, fixing up a fuel pump install done elsewhere and anything else he found. I didn't think the car could get better, but it now feels like it's picked up another 20-30kW down low and even crisper again. It's a ZF box, but it's almost driving like a manual, there's no doughiness left at all. The new injectors and tune have done wonders

I'd recommend Jim and the team to anyone and given how much effort they put in, their pricing is excellent value for money.

Oh, I should add they have the most immaculate workshop I've ever seen, even my wife couldn't believe males could run such a clean business. You could eat of their floor it's that clean. Really shows an air of professionalism.

I recently had my 95,000km XR6T transformed. After dealing with 2 seperate Ford dealers over the last 3.5 years, I saw three turbos go up in smoke (under warranty), cooling system leaks, power steering leaks, brake vibration issues, stalling when backing off the throttle etc. I was ready to mirror image the "b" on the bootlid and rebadge it turdo.

However as the car ran near perfect up to 60,000km, I still had some faith and I had a strong feeling the genuine Ford servicing was actually destroying the car to a point of no return.
A week after having the genuine Ford 90,000km service, I hit a pot hole and the front tire was instantaneously punctured. After changing the tire I find the spare was almost just as flat. I managed to crawl it to the servo and found the other three tires also measured in between 10-15psi. Later I looked at the Ford Service invoice and somehow they didn't forget to charge me for the line item "checked all tire pressures including spare". I later looked under the bonnet and found coolant was leaking from the heater hose under the thermostat and from the small rubber hose cooling the turbo. I also found power steering fluid all over the alternator. Remember this all occurred shortly after a genuine Ford logbook service. By now I had enough and it was at this time I contacted Tunehouse for advise.

I spoke with Tony and we had a bit of a laugh over the quality of the genuine Ford servicing performed to date. He said to bring the car in and they would go over it. One day turned into two, but they found a host of other problems like loose intake / exhaust manifold bolts. Funnily enough this was another chargeable line item on the Ford Service invoice. They also found my battery was on its way out and I was able to get a new one under warranty. All along Tony was more than happy to show me the issues they found and discuss how each issue would be rectified, meanwhile Jim was making coffees. Seeing as I was only getting a service, I was really surprised by the level of interest and customer service they showed.
To the uneducated (I.e. the majority of doctors, lawyers, penny pinchers and paper shufflers) it would appear excessive time was taken in performing the service, but if you understand their work and see them in action you realise the Tunehouse mechanics are not "just working" but actually performing mechanical art. This is the seed that guarantees their quality.

When I picked up the car I was a little hesitant. But when I drove it for the first time and I know this sounds ridiculous but it actually drove and felt better than new. The suspension was tight, the idle was smooth and the throttle response was unbelievable. Two weeks later I'm still giving it stick like never before and have had no issues, the car still feels tight and powerful and my confidence in its reliability is soaring.
The Turbo is back. The Tunehouse mechanics are the best in the biz.

Thank you and see you soon.

My factory clutch always felt a bit soft and would take-up fairly high so
after my recent mods it was time for an upgrade.
After some research I settled on one of Jim's organic twin-plate jobs.
Its no heavier, and gets on with the job without the vagueness of the
factory clutch meaning faster and easier shifts.
As usual all work was done to perfection!!

Highly recommended upgrade.

Thanks Tunehouse

Hi all,

Had a few frustrating years with a low km standard T that would not run consistently despite numerous trips to dealers and a couple of "tuners". I had grown tired of being told it is "fine sir" and paying for work which I subsequently found hadn't been done properly or not done at all!

Having read numerous posts I decided to go to Tunehouse, and tell them about the issues and dyno tune the car.

Issues were found that should have been found by the other shops I had been to.

On the dyno, the engine was found to be healthy, however the valve springs became an issue once tuning got serious, so I decided to go for the Tunehouse Stage 1 kit. (see their website for details)

Tunehouse also did a 'performance check over', leaving nothing to chance. Steering and suspension were checked and tightened, leaks fixed, heavy duty hose clamps fitted, just for starters!

The headline results are very impressive (see signature), but to drive it, is brilliant. Improved throttle response and increased torque are immediately apparent while derivability is maintained. Almost as importantly, the car feels more together due to the work done on the steering, suspension etc.

From my experiences it is clear that Jim and his team know the T's and their weaknesses well, and know how to get the best out of them while maintaining derivability. The presentation of their workshop and their attention to detail on my car, tells me that they take pride in the quality of their work and that I had spent a lot of dollars for inferior results at other shops.

Thanks heaps Tunehouse!

"Can't say enough good things about the work done by Jim and the boys at Tunehouse! Their thoroughness and attention to detail are evident in the spotless and professional presentation of the workshop (you literally could eat off the floor, but I wouldn't try it with Jim watching!). Jim has fixed problems caused or unresolved by other mechanics in cars I've brought to him, especially in the tuning department.

I took my Ver 5 STi to him when I bought it, already modified. It was making 188kW ATW on 17psi, and when he had finished, it made 215kW WITH 2psi LESS BOOST (more power with less boost is a sound philosophy of his). I then asked him to lean on it harder, and he came back with 251kW at 20psi. Needless to say I was extremely happy with this result, and haven't bothered using the low boost setting since! And this is no “razor edge” tune, on the brink of destruction. The car has been driven (hard) every day, and has done two track days since.

Thanks Jim, keep up the good work! "
